Science projects should be related to important issues that affect everyone as much as possible. The energy crisis is one such issue that can be used to teach youngsters how they, too, can be of help in tomorrow’s future. And a homemade wind generator can be just the thing to use for an interesting and educational science project. With the rise of modern development, more and more people require energy to supply power to cities, factories, and homes. Fossil fuels are what the majority of today’s entire population relies on to provide them with energy. This dependence is what is causing the energy crisis that we are currently experiencing. It is of tantamount importance that we now turn to education by introducing practical hands on school projects, such as how to ustilize wind power as a source of energy.
We are facing a grave threat to our survival in the form of the energy crisis of today. Fossil fuels, the most commonly used means of generating energy today, have cause much damage to the natural environment. One only has to look at the state of our forests, mountains, water sources, and our air just to see how much fossil fuels have harmed our surroundings. The energy sources we have been using for the past centuries have been abused and now we are paying for it. And the people who are most likely to suffer the full brunt of the damages done by fossil fuels are the younger future generations.
Human beings have thoughtlessly made use of fossil fuels, such as petroleum, coal, and natural gas, without ever stopping to seriously reflect on the fact that these are non-renewable resources which cause harm to the environment. For example, fossil fuels have been blamed as the cause of global warming which can possibly cause a meltdown of the polar ice caps to fatally flood the earth. They also cause acid rain to fall due to the sulphur oxide emissions emitted by burned fossil fuels. Acid rain changes the pH balance of water and the soil, seriously harming all the living organisms that live in those elements. Besides that, the mining inflicts irrevocable damage to the are that surrounds a particular mine. The quarrying of fossil fuels is seen as plundering the earth’s minerals to the detriment of life itself.
Fossil fuels are non-renewable which means they cannot be recycled and have a limited amount available. Someday, fossil fuels will reach its limit and no more supplies can be produced. That time will surely come and again, it is the younger generations who will have to face this inevitability.
All of these things are exactly the reason why educating the future generations about energy efficiency is such an important task. We need them to be informed, to be truly aware of the negative possibilities that can occur if the energy crisis remains unsolved. It’s now time to take a bold step forward by mandatorily educating students and pupils on the already damaging effects and to look for ways of reversing this somehow. One method of doing them both is by advocating alternative sources of energy.
Build a Wind Generator A science project can be used to make young people understand just how important alternative sources of energy are. You can allow them to make wind generators to serve as their project. Wind power is an alternative energy source that is a good concept to teach the youngsters to help them appreciate how simple and effective wind generators are.
A wind generator will not harm the environment the way fossil fuels can, and that is a good lesson to teach these young ones. Allow them to do the project on their own and see them take interest and take a stand for alternative sources of energy as solutions to our encroaching energy crisis.
I am dedicated to researching and providing information that will contribute to a better and cleaner lifestyle for all. If it be energy issues, diets or positive forward thinking I will promote it.
