Dear Friend; In this article we will discuss some of the many pros and cons of solar energy. Be assured however that there are for more pros than cons related to this renewable energy source. Although there is no perfect energy source, solar energy comes pretty close. Many of the pros might seem obvious. But it is important to discuss them all to get the full picture. The cons might be less obvious but certainly require consideration. With this in mind you will have access to discovering if solar energy is right for you.

We’ve always found it best to list the pros of any subject first. It is natural and seems the normal way to go about understanding a subject. So with that in mind we’ll unleash a list of the ten pros first. From there we’ll talk about the shorter list of cons. Okay, the sun beams down on the whole planet. There isn’t even the tiniest corner on earth that doesn’t get a teeny bit of sun. So everyone can benefit from this energy source. Also, solar energy is extremely benign. Sure there is some pollution in the manufacture of solar cells etc, but after that, nada.

The number four tip in the pro column is price. The sun doesn’t charge a penny. Number five is that we already now how to use sunlight for energy. This is not a technology we are currently lacking. Number six is that solar systems are easy to build. The technology is simple so number eight is that it is practically idiot proof once it’s up and running. Number nine is being able to figure out how much juice a particular solar energy system will offer. Number ten is that solar energy is not noisy and rather elegant in design.

We now know a lot about the pros of solar energy. But let us not kid ourselves. There are a few cons we should be aware of. Only four in fact. But important nonetheless. This technology is simple but it costs a bunch just to get started. And along these lines, solar energy is not very streamlined. And because of this not all places on earth will be helped to the same degree. And like with most things in life, not everyone wants large scale solar facilities in their backyard.

Certainly, solar power has it’s pros and cons. And these need to be understood. But clearly the benefits are certainly outweighing the drawbacks. And with fossil fuels being polluting and finite, we need to find a cleaner, more reliable source. And there are ways to start enjoying the benefits of solar power without extraordinary costs. In just a weekend you can have a small system in place.

Nice article. As soon as solar energy reaches grid parity, which won’t be long now, I think you’ll see a major uptake of solar. We need to get ourselves off fossil fuels as soon as we can
